Video Production in Sylhet

Libanza Films produces tea estate films, tourism content, TVCs, OVCs and documentaries in Sylhet, the heart of Bangladesh's tea country and home to its strongest UK diaspora ties. Our Dhaka crew handles estate permissions, seasonal locations and border-area logistics across the region.

Recent Work in Sylhet

A tea estate documentary for a foreign client

A brand film following a day on a tea estate, from first light on the slopes to the factory floor. We covered whole tea garden and the process.

What the location demanded: Arranging estate permission weeks ahead, shooting the slopes in the first two hours of light, and working around plucking shifts.

Sylhet Locations We Film

Malnichhara Tea Estate slopes in Sylhet

Malnichhara Tea Estate

Established in 1854 and often cited as the subcontinent's first commercial tea garden, minutes from Sylhet city — rolling green slopes for brand, agribusiness and heritage films.

Boats among flooded trees at Ratargul Swamp Forest, Sylhet

Ratargul Swamp Forest

One of Bangladesh's few freshwater swamp forests, filmed from boats between the trees. It only looks like this when flooded, roughly July to October.

Piyain River and hills at Jaflong, Sylhet

Jaflong

Clear river water, stone beds and the Meghalaya hills behind — a striking tourism and lifestyle backdrop on the India border, so drone use is tightly restricted.

We also film at Lalakhal's blue-green river, Bichanakandi, the Shah Jalal Dargah, Keane Bridge on the Surma, and the haor wetlands in neighbouring Sunamganj.

Who Commissions Video in Sylhet

Greater Sylhet produces most of Bangladesh's tea — with the largest share in neighbouring Moulvibazar — and the region holds major natural gas fields. It also has the country's strongest links to the UK diaspora. That shapes who needs video here:

  • Tea companies and estates — estate profiles, buyer and auction presentations, sustainability and worker-welfare films.
  • Banks, remittance and real estate brands — campaigns aimed at Sylheti families in the UK and Middle East.
  • Hotels, resorts and tourism operators — destination and property films for Jaflong, Ratargul and the tea country.
  • Energy and infrastructure — corporate AV and safety training for gas and utility operations.
  • NGOs and development programmes — tea-community, haor and climate documentation.

Shoot-based OVCs start from BDT 1,50,000, corporate AV and estate films from BDT 2,50,000 and TVCs from BDT 3,50,000, with travel and accommodation itemised separately. Explore Corporate AV production.

Sylhet is roughly 240 kilometres from Dhaka. By road, which is how equipment travels, the journey usually takes 5 to 7 hours. Key crew can fly to Osmani International Airport in about 45 minutes, and the intercity train takes around 7 to 8 hours. Most shoots budget a travel day each way.

Yes. Tea estates are privately managed, so filming needs written permission from the garden management, which typically takes 2 to 4 weeks to arrange. Plucking is most active between spring and autumn, and early morning light gives the best results on the slopes.

July to October, when the forest is flooded and boats move between the trees. In the dry season the water recedes and the swamp-forest look disappears. Ratargul is a protected forest, so filming needs Forest Department permission; for foreign crews allow 4 to 5 weeks.

Ground filming is possible with local coordination, but both sit on the India border, so drone flights are heavily restricted and need Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) approval, typically 3 to 4 weeks in yellow zones, plus border-area clearance. Crews should keep a clear distance from the border line.

Yes, respectfully and with permission from the shrine management. Filming is scheduled around prayer times, crews dress modestly, and worshippers are not filmed without consent. We arrange permission in advance as part of pre-production.
